FlowMax™ How it Works

-
FlowMax™ remains in a closed position until the critical flow rate is reached
-
All flow is directed to the bit

-
Once the critical flow rate is reached, FlowMax™ opens and diverts a portion of the flow to the annulus
-
The portion of flow (50%/50%, 60%/40%, 70%/30%) is diverted to the annulus and is adjustable on surface by changing the nozzle sizes

-
The driller will observe a drop in surface pressure as the critical flow rate is reached
-
As the driller brings up the pumps to the final flow rate the surface pressure will increase along the slower trend line (green line)

-
As long as the flow rate is above the critical rate , the FlowMax™ remains open

-
When the pumps are shut down the FlowMax™ will shut automatically
-
Well influxes can be circulated out at slow circulating rates with the FlowMax™ in the closed position
